World Law Group – Merger Control Guide 2020 – Greece

WLG’s Antitrust & Competition Group has published the second edition of the WLG Merger Control Guide, which provides “at-a-glance” information on merger control for 91 jurisdictions around the world.

The guide is designed as a quick reference resource for every organization which is involved in M&A transactions.

Many countries have implemented merger control regimes and even more are preparing to do so. Recently, competition authorities have imposed hefty fines for companies that failed to file a merger.

The WLG Merger Control Guide 2020 provides information on two of the most important questions related to merger control. “Thresholds” identify the relevant prerequisites that trigger an obligation under Merger Control rules to notify a national competition authority of a contemplated or pending transaction, such as a merger or acquisition.

“Stages” describe the procedure and the investigation periods once the national competition authority has been notified of a transaction. Brief answers to both questions are provided alphabetically country-by-country.

The author of the Chapter for Greece (p. 37) is our Managing Partner, Dimitris Emvalomenos.
